Donated vehicles change the lives of 2 local men

Have you ever considered donating a vehicle to an organization that can place it directly into the hands of someone who truly needs it?

Last fall, one of our incredibly generous supporters donated two vehicles that once belonged to her late husband. While both vehicles were in good condition externally, they needed a little care before they could be safely driven. We were beyond grateful for this gift, especially because we already had individuals in mind whose lives could be changed by reliable transportation.

Both vehicles were taken to Brock’s Auto Service for a full inspection. We cannot say enough about how wonderful the team at Brock’s is—they are truly one of our most cherished community partners. They carefully went through each vehicle and provided us with detailed repair estimates. We chose to start with the van, as we already knew exactly who it was meant for.

The man who received the van had been living outdoors, facing the elements daily, yet never missed a day of work. He works full-time here in Lawrenceburg but has struggled to find affordable housing. Despite everything, he remained deeply grateful for every meal, every conversation, and every act of kindness. Being able to place the keys in his hands was an incredibly joyful moment for us. He now has a safe place to rest, protection from the weather, and walks with his head held just a little higher.

Not long after, we met another gentleman at the Heart House whose leadership, character, and humility truly stood out. The only barrier keeping him from employment was transportation. Together, we found him a full-time job—and thanks to that second donated vehicle, we were able to help him get there. Once again, Brock’s Auto Service worked diligently to complete the repairs quickly so nothing would delay his first day of work. Today, he is thriving.

Two donated vehicles, an amazing partnership with Brock’s Auto Service, and a community of caring men and women came together to help change two lives for the better.

And we can’t forget the camper that was donated to us as well. This gift became a safe and stable space for a homeless couple we had been supporting. It provided exactly the boost they needed. The husband is now working locally, and the wife is able to stay close to her parents and help care for them. The impact of this generosity has been profound.
