Help Fill the Freezer at The Heart House — and Fill Lives with Hope!

ree

The Heart House in Aurora is a vital lifeline for individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity in Dearborn County and the surrounding counties of Franklin, Switzerland, Ohio, and Ripley.

Dedicated to restoring dignity and hope, the Heart House works tirelessly to prevent homelessness and provide safe, temporary housing for those in crisis. Their mission extends beyond simply offering shelter—they help residents rebuild their lives and re-enter society as healthy, productive, and empowered citizens.

Each day, between 65 and 70 adults and children call the Heart House home. Residents receive three meals a day, all prepared by the residents themselves in a full commercial kitchen. This not only nourishes their bodies but also teaches valuable life and technical skills, helping them gain experience that can lead to future employment opportunities. The Heart House also places a strong emphasis on education, wellness, and mental health, ensuring that residents receive the support they need for long-term success.

Right now, the Heart House is facing a serious challenge—they are struggling to keep enough protein on hand to meet the daily nutritional needs of their residents.

To help, The Community Project has pledged a $500 donation toward purchasing much-needed protein for the Heart House. They are also inviting other community groups, organizations, and individuals to join in by matching this donation—or contributing whatever they can.

Every contribution, big or small, helps ensure that those staying at the Heart House have access to nutritious meals and the strength to continue their journey toward stability and independence.

Donations by check may be mailed to: The Heart House, Inc., c/o Ryan Johnson6815 US 50Aurora, IN 47001. You may also make donations online.

The Heart House has been a cornerstone of compassion in southeastern Indiana. Now, in their time of need, the community has the opportunity to give back. Together, we can lift hearts, fill plates, and strengthen lives—because when a community stands together, hope truly grows. 💛
