One meal at a time, The Community Project’s Weekend Meal Train brings our community together.

A year ago, we started the weekend Meal Train with a simple hope: to share warm, home-cooked meals with our unhoused neighbors and to give our community a meaningful way to show up for one another.  Since then, the response has been nothing short of incredible.

Every weekend, volunteers sign up to prepare meals for individuals who depend on this little bit of comfort and care. Volunteers cook, package, and include utensils and drinks. If you need to-go containers, we’re happy to provide them.

What’s been most inspiring is how people have made this experience their own. Families have cooked together as a way to teach compassion. Friends have used it as a chance to reconnect while serving others. Church groups, school groups, and individuals of all ages have stepped in with open hearts. Truly—this is an opportunity for anyone who wants to make a difference.

I recently spoke with a volunteer who shared, “I was totally unaware that the two vehicles closest to us were someone’s homes. Handing two meals and drinks through a car window really hit me. We have so much to be grateful for, and there is far more I could be doing.”

I felt the same way last Thanksgiving when I delivered a hot meal to someone living in the Lowe’s parking lot. That moment is what sparked the creation of this Meal Train.

If this speaks to your heart and you’d like to be part of something that truly brings our community together, here is the link to sign up: https://mealtrain.com/r9y6w2

I hope to see many of you join us in spreading warmth, dignity, and kindness.
